Scientists from Harvard came to a disappointing conclusion for fans of soy: products, which include soy, may cause substantial harm to men’s health and lead to infertility.
Researchers led by Jorge Chavarro have long been working on the problem. They examined data from 100 families, which went to doctors complaining of inability to have children. Sperm samples were taken, and have been thoroughly studied for their nutrition. Semen analysis showed that sperm quantity in men whose diets contain soy products each day was 65 million per milliliter. Whereas men who avoid soy in their diet – from 80 to 120 million per milliliter. The difference is about 40%, which is quite significant.
Scientists explain that soybeans are full of substances with properties resembling the female hormones. In addition
All of these studies have generally shown that it is the presence of soy in the diet depends on male fertility, as soy adversely affects the hormones.
Previously was published research records that prove the relationship between sperm quality and overweight men. Perhaps the abundance of soy in food causes an accumulation of excess pounds on hormone levels, which in turn leads to poor sperm quality and reduce the number of sperm in it.
