The useful granola, which is so actively promoted by health food shops, is actually a mixture of crispy oatmeal flakes baked in liquid honey with nuts and dried fruits. Cooking it at home is easy and fast. And unlike the purchased one, it will not contain any artificial additives or sugar surplus.
Secrets of home granola
Due to its nutritional properties, granola is ideal for breakfast and afternoon snacks. Like regular muesli, it is filled with milk, yoghurt or juice. Fresh fruit, cottage cheese or ice cream can be added to the ready meal. And if you form a mass into small bars during roasting, you get the perfect snack for the day.
The main component of granola is oatmeal flakes. You should take the most common ones, not the fastest ones. Otherwise it will not be possible to achieve the necessary crumbliness. To oatmeal you can add barley, rye or wheat flakes. Airy rice is also a good base, and gourmets who are very worried about their figure, choose green buckwheat.
Additional ingredients for granola can be different. It can be any seeds: sunflower seeds, dark and white linen seeds, pumpkins, black sesame and chia. Also nuts, raisins, dried fruits, wheat germ, berries and coconut shavings. The result is a very nourishing product rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.
Granola should be baked in an oven on a parchmented tray or in a special glass bowl for 30 minutes at temperatures up to 180°C, stirring periodically. Frying in a pan with coconut oil is also permitted. Cold granola should be stored in a dry and sealed container.
2 glasses of oatmeal flakes200 walnuts
200g of peanuts
3 tablespoons of white sesame
3 tablespoons of coke oil or sunflower oil
3-4 tablespoons of liquid honey
First of all, you have to turn on the oven to heat it up. Then cook the nuts. Almonds and peanuts must be peeled and dried in the oven for 10 minutes. Next, cut the nuts with a knife, but not very finely, and mix in a bowl with oatmeal and sesame. Add honey, butter, salt and cinnamon to taste. Mix everything thoroughly. Spread the mixture evenly on a baking tray and leave it in the oven for 30 minutes, remembering to stir occasionally.
Apple banana granola
2 glasses of oatmeal flakes
150 g of sunflower, pumpkin or linseed
50 g sesame
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 glass of apple puree
50g of dried bananas
3 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Mix all the dry ingredients in one bowl, and mix all the liquid ingredients in the other: apple puree, honey and butter. Next, mix everything thoroughly to a homogeneous consistency. Distribute the granola evenly on the tray and bake for 30-40 minutes.
